My name’s James and this is my blog.
I’ve always played and loved games, particularly fantasy role-playing games, miniature-based wargames, 2D fighting games and computer RPGs. I have another blog, mostly inactive now, called Warp Signal. It was a specifically table-top gaming-focused blog, and when I started it I mainly played Warhammer 40,000. My gaming habits and my life have changed a lot since I started blogging a couple of years ago. I learned a great deal from the experience of Warp Signal, but that particular story is over now; it’s time for a fresh start, and a blog that is not so narrow in vision.
So this blog is going to be a bit different. I’m not interested in delving too deep this time around. I’m guessing the beat ronin will still be heavily oriented towards gaming, as that has been my main creative outlet over my life and still is a major one. But I don’t want to place any limits on what might happen. I will try to keep it short though, posting work and raising questions rather than expounding ideas at length.
I called this blog the beat ronin as that is the first name I ever took on a forum, way back in the late 90s. I think it still suits me well: a wanderer in strange places who never stays with one master for long.
All the best,
